Our client is looking for eight production packers for a local manufacturing company based in Corby.
Hours are Monday to Friday or part time at weekends or rotating 2 on 3 off 3 on 2 off pattern.
Shifts are 06.00-18.00pm and 18.00-06.00am.
These roles are permanent after three months.
If has experience would be an advantage but are willing to take trainees.
Outline of Role
Reporting to the Lead Packer, the main function of this role is to pack product in accordance with specifications and instructions issued.
Areas of responsibility
1) To maintain accurate records of all required elements using the production (computer based) recording system.
2) To pack, good product only, to specified packaging and labelling standards and instructions.
3) To perform the specified product inspections satisfactorily, maintain adequate records and inform the relevant team members of problems promptly.
4) To maintain adequate standards of hygiene and housekeeping in the work area.
5) To follow all company rules and procedures.
6) To undergo any training deemed necessary by the company.
7) To communicate and work effectively with all RPC colleagues.
8) To perform any other reasonable task at the request of the shift leader.
1) Packing staff must accurately record the following: (Records will normally be via the computerised recording system used by the production department).
a) Good pallets made (the correct pallet number to be recorded at the correct completion time).
b) All ‘bad’ product (including full and part pallets). These must be booked onto the system as impounds. Correct labels must be attached to properly identify the bad product.
c) Part pallets produced on shift. At the end of each shift, there will often be significant product made (but not a full pallet) that must be accounted for. The packer must accurately record the number of full layers completed at the appropriate time (within a 15 minute window before the end of the shift). However, once this entry has been made a full pallet must not be booked out on the same shift!
d) Weight check data. Weight control is vital. Packers are required to perform weight checks periodically, throughout the shift. These must be recorded on the PC system, together with the cavity reference weighed.
2) Packing specifications are provided for every stock code reference. The packer must check that they assemble, package and label pallets to the specifications provided, at all times.
3) Packers must regularly inspect the products to ensure the containers are of acceptable quality. The minimum inspection frequency and the inspection instructions are supplied. Packers must complete these satisfactorily. In the event of any quality issue, they must notify the setter responsible for the machine and the Q.A. operative. Where required, defective production must be quarantined (by impounding).
4) Hygiene and housekeeping standards have to be maintained at a high level. The packer must work with the setter to make sure that the area is maintained free of debris and unnecessary materials or objects. Consumables items must be kept to agreed levels and stored in a neat and tidy manner.
5) As with all other disciplines within the factory, the packer must adhere to all company rules and procedures.
6) Manufacturing environments change with the times. Change or modification may require existing skills to be developed or new skills to be learnt. Packing staff are expected to undergo any training required.
7) The shop floor relies of effective teamwork. It is essential that the packer is able to work well within a team. Communication is key. In particular good standards of communication and interaction are required with the Lead packer, Setter and Q.A operative.
8) Shift workloads or the tasks that need to be performed may vary. Packers must be prepared to perform any reasonable request made by the lead packer, shift leader or manager.
