Hotel Services is committed to providing a high quality, helpful, courteous and personal service to the patients of the Trust and in support of Nursing Staff.
Your role as a House keeper is in pursuit of Hotel Services aims to provide a safe, nutritious and well balanced meal service to patients in a clean and supportive environment in which patients can recuperate, working with other members of ward based staff in a team spirit.
Patients and staff should receive a high level of customer services, timely, friendly and efficiently delivered by Hotel Services staff with a high standard of personal presentation.
Main duties of the job
Your duties will be carried out accordingly to specified tasks with frequency levels:
* Make a personal introduction to new patients following their clinical admittance.
* Ensure the ward provides an up to date list of the patients’ dietary requirements for you to work from.
* Assist Nursing Staff with food service to patients.
* Monitor patient eating, report to nursing team if a patient requires help or assistance with eating.
* Prepare and assist with service of beverages food and snacks. Clear beverages at designated times throughout the day including supplement drinks.
* Ensure provision of beverages for distressed relatives.
* Ensure food provisions and catering resources are managed economically.
* Resolve food and crockery shortages.
* Resolve shortages of milk.
* Clean patient’s bedside tables prior to each meal service then place the place mat and cutlery in readiness for meal service.
* Be responsible for checking stock and removing out of date food from ward kitchen refrigerators.
* Be responsible for recording of ward kitchen refrigerator temperatures.
* Complete the ward catering sheet including food waste and temperatures.

* NVQ Level 2 in Catering

* Demonstrate ability to develop knowledge of hospital policies and procedures to support role
* Ability to record/document information clearly in line with policy and procedure.
* Ability to use initiative and make decisions within sphere of work and/or knowledge recognising where assistance/escalation is required.
Disclosure and Barring Checks (DBS)
