Salary: £105,504 - £139,882 per annum (Pro-rata)
Contract: Substantive
Hours: Full-time: 10 Programmed Activities (DCC:SPA = 7.5:2.5)
On call: Frequency 1:50 Category A - 3% on call supplement
Location: Queen's Hospital, Rom Valley Way, Romford, Essex, RM7 0AG, & Saint Francis Hospice, Broxhill Road, Havering-Atte-Bower, Romford, Essex, RM4 1QH.

CCT or equivalent
Section 12 Approval or eligibility for it
Approved Clinician status, or eligibility for it
Inclusion in, or eligibility for inclusion in the Specialist Register or within 6 months of obtaining CCST
We are currently recruiting to an Older Adult Consultant Psychiatrist position for the Queen's Hospital Liaison Team, based at Queen's Hospital, Rom Valley Way, Romford, RM7 0AG, with additional palliative care input to Saint Francis Hospice, based at Broxhill Road, Havering-Atte-Bower, Romford, Essex, RM4 1QH. This is a new post, created following one consultant dropping their sessions and combining that with other resource made available by Saint Francis Hospice.
This is a new, substantive, full-time post - 10 PAs with 7.5 PA DCC and 2.5 SPA. This post is currently vacant, and we wish to recruit to this post as soon as possible.
You will work alongside another Old Age Consultant Psychiatrist (Dr Stephen O'Connor), a General Adult Consultant Psychiatrist (Dr Gavin McKay), and a General Adult / Diabetes Consultant Psychiatrist (Dr Sally Daly), two Specialty Doctors who work across old age and general adult psychiatry, a senior trainee in old age psychiatry and a Foundation Year 2 doctor. You will supervise the FY2 doctor and share supervision responsibility for the Specialty doctors.

Person Specification
Qualifications
Essential
* CCT or equivalent. Section 12 Approval or eligibility for it.
* GMC
Desirable
* Approved Clinician status, or eligibility for it. Inclusion in, or eligibility for inclusion in the Specialist Register for Old Age Psychiatry or within 6 months of obtaining CCT
* Masters or Doctorate degree. A management qualification. ECDL or equivalent qualification. Experience in strategic development
Clinical Experience
Essential
* Mastery in the management of a broad range of mental disorders in older adults
* Experience in managing patients from different cultural backgrounds. Working with interpreters and translators.
* An interest in and understanding of palliative care and mental health challenge in that context.
Clinical Skills
Essential
* Excellent clinical skills.
* Excellent communication skills both verbally and written. Familiarity with a wide range of theoretical and clinical approaches. Ability to provide medical leadership to the multidisciplinary team and to function as an active member of the multi-disciplinary team.
Desirable
* Clear thoughts on how to involve service users in service development and to provide a service which is experienced as being service-user friendly.
* Practical experience in a short-term psychological therapy
Knowledge
Essential
* Extensive knowledge of the biological, psychological, and social determinants of mental health disorders and evidence-based management interventions.
* Up to date knowledge of recent DH documentation and NICE Guidelines.
Desirable
* An awareness of NHS Plan, NSF, and clinical governance priorities
* An understanding of Leadership and evidence of how this has been put into practice.
