ABOUT THE ROLE
I am a female adult living in my own family home, in Mansfield. I was diagnosed with MS (Multiple Sclerosis) in 2014, which has left me requiring support with all daily living tasks. I need support with personal care and all transfers. I spend most of the day in my recliner chair and am waiting for the delivery of my new electric wheelchair. I like to have an afternoon nap to rest and regain my strength for the remainder of the day. I want my personal assistants to be supportive and understanding of my needs, especially since my diagnosis can make me low in mood at times.
I used to be a professional dancer, so finding someone with common interests would be ideal. I enjoy listening to music, participating in quizzes, and keeping my brain active with brain teasers and word puzzles. I also enjoy watching YouTube and having a good laugh.
I want someone who enjoys going out, as I will want to visit different places for shopping and local coffee shops. Driving is not essential but is desirable as I do have a mobility car and can use public transport.
I am looking to recruit a team of Personal Assistants who can support me with day-to-day living, assist with some household chores including cooking, washing, hoovering, sweeping the kitchen floor, cleaning the bathroom, and occasionally some ironing. They should also be able to support me with my emotional well-being, personal care, and accessing the community, and help in finding new interests or hobbies.
Hourly Rate: £11.44 per hour, rising to £12.21 in April 2025
Hours Per Week: Mixed shifts available – Monday – Friday 9am – 2pm & 5pm – 9.30pm; Saturday – Sunday 9am – 2pm, 5pm – 10pm & Sleep-in nights 10pm – 7am
ABOUT YOU
The ideal candidate will live locally, be flexible, patient, have a calm presence, and a genuine caring nature. You will need to be enthusiastic and inspiring to bring a sense of energy into my life. You must also demonstrate a high level of professionalism and integrity, promoting my independence and respecting my family and home. Candidates must be female and have previous experience supporting clients with mobility requirements; knowledge and understanding of MS would be beneficial, though full training will be provided to the successful candidate.
During the day, I have set times where a second PA will be available to support with transfers due to my need for a hoist. A rota will be planned and agreed in advance. Applicants should consider that my hours of support may change from time to time, so flexibility is essential to accommodate this and to cover annual leave or sickness on a pro-rata basis.
The hourly rate of pay is £11.44 per hour, rising to £12.21 in April 2025, and all training is paid for, including the hours to complete the necessary training. An in-depth training package will be delivered to my team to support you in understanding how to care for me and meet my needs.
