Job summary Providing a high quality phlebotomy service for the inpatients of Royal Lancaster Infirmary. The hours of work are 31 hours per week which will require being part of a rota to work four hour shifts on weekends and bank holidays. Previous phlebotomy experience is desirable. Main duties of the job Ensuring that the patient is as comfortable and relaxed as possible and confirming their agreement to the collection of a blood sample. Collection of sample(s) of blood in accordance with training and procedures. Ensuring samples are collected into appropriate containers. Accurate, legible labelling of all samples to confirm patient identity. Checking patient identification against records and confirming with patient whenever possible. Ensuring that samples are dispatched to the appropriate laboratories in a timely fashion. Ensuring that anomalies are reported to a senior member of staff. Notifying the ward staff of any significant patient issues. About us We operatefrom three main hospitals-Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow, the Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI), and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal, as well as a number of community healthcare premises including Millom Hospital and GP Practice, Queen Victoria Hospital in Morecambe, andUlverstonCommunity Health Centre.
