Job Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Purchaser to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in managing the procurement process, ensuring that all groceries supply chain is regular and supplies are acquired efficiently and cost-effectively. This position requires strong negotiation skills, a solid understanding of supply chain processes, and value chains across both Asia South Asian, African Foods.
Duties
1. Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers to ensure the best pricing and quality of products.
2. Negotiate contracts and terms with vendors to secure favourable agreements.
3. Monitor inventory levels and place orders as needed to prevent shortages.
4. Collaborate with logistics teams to coordinate the timely delivery of goods.
5. Analyse market trends to identify potential suppliers and new products.
6. Maintain accurate records of purchases, pricing, and supplier information in procurement systems.
7. Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures regarding purchasing activities.
8. Support the procurement needs across our two retail stores, including site visits, to understand stock.
Experience
1. Proven experience in a purchasing or procurement role within a supply chain environment for African and Asian grocery items, fruits, and frozen products.
2. Proven experience in understanding and assessing the source of origin, across the supply chain and value chain.
3. Proficiency in using procurement software and other proprietary systems and spreadsheets to track pricing.
4. Strong negotiation skills with the ability to manage supplier relationships effectively.
5. Knowledge of logistics processes and supply chain management principles.
6. Excellent organisational skills with attention to detail and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
7. Comparison on pricing across wholesale procurements and locally available consistent wholesale distributors and dealers.
