Job Overview We are seeking an experienced and results-driven Farm Operations Manager to oversee the daily operations of our intensive insect larvae farming facility. The Company is scaling its operations in 2025 and this position requires a hands-on leader with a strong understanding of intensive farming practices, operational efficiency and team management. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the smooth scaling and functioning of all production processes, maintaining high standards of biosecurity and quality, and driving continuous improvement in operational performance. Key Responsibilities Operational Management Plan, coordinate, and oversee daily production activities to ensure optimal growth, harvest, and processing of insect larvae and biproducts. Monitor environmental conditions (e.g., temperature, humidity) to maintain ideal farming conditions. Manage feedstock sourcing, preparation, and storage within the facility. Supervise and optimize the workflow for automated and manual farming systems. Implement and maintain biosecurity measures to protect the health of the insect population. Oversee processing, packing and dispatch of direct-to-consumer orders, including associated ecommerce software processes. Ensure compliance with all relevant food safety, health, and environmental regulations. Team Leadership Lead, supervise and motivate operations team to achieve production targets. Conduct training sessions to ensure staff are knowledgeable about best practices, safety protocols, health and safety and standard operating procedures (SOPs). Foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement among staff. Quality Assurance and Compliance Maintain high standards of biosecurity and hygiene across the facility to meet Company HACCP protocols. Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, including food safety (Trading Standards), environmental, health and safety occupational health standards. Conduct regular quality control checks to ensure consistency in product quality. Identify and mitigate risks to insect health, including diseases and pests. Data Management and Reporting Record and analyse key production data, such as input usage, larvae performance, and harvest yields. Prepare and submit regular reports on farm performance to senior management. Use data insights to recommend and implement process optimizations. Maintenance and Sustainability Coordinate preventive maintenance and repairs of equipment and facilities. Support initiatives to reduce waste, energy use, and overall environmental impact. Qualifications and Skills Education and Experience Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, or a related field (or equivalent experience). Proven experience (3-5 years) in farm management, food production, or related operations, preferably in insect farming or intensive livestock systems. Experience with automated farming systems or production technologies is a plus.
