This new fixed term role, funded by Bristol and Weston Hospitals Charity, is to develop, embed and manage a new End of Life volunteering service across UHBW. The post holder will be key to developing a service which aims to improve the experience of patients and their loved ones through a compassionate volunteer programme, offering support and comfort in the last days of life in our hospitals. This post holder will:€ €
• Work in partnership with Voluntary Services and End of Life Care Leads to develop, implement, manage, and evaluate a dedicated End of Life Care Volunteer programme.
• Recruit, train, manage and supervise a team of End-of-Life Care Volunteers.
• Collaborate with clinical teams to promote and manage the day to day running of the service across both Bristol and Weston hospital sites.
• Establish a service that is embedded in the hospital and has long-term sustainability
• To establish the End of Life Care Volunteer service within the hospital setting, supporting patients and those closest to them, who are approaching the end of their lives.
• To manage and support volunteers.
• To co-ordinate the operational day-to-day activity of the end-of-life volunteers in our hospitals, working alongside clinical teams and the specialist palliative care team to identify patients who would benefit from support.
• To ensure equity of service across Bristol and Weston hospital sites.
• To ensure the End-of-Life Care Volunteer service project team meetings run effectively, including providing administrative support.
• To establish and embed a service that has long term sustainability
