General Dynamics Land Systems is on the look-out for a full-time Senior Legal Counsel, UK Operations to join our Team. The successful and inclusive candidate will earn a favourable salary of £50,400 to £63,000 based on experience and potential. This is an ideal role for someone who has a proactive and positive mindset and a keen desire to grow professionally.
Joining an established team based at our Merthyr (South Wales) facility, you will work across a range of stakeholders where you will handle an array of legal and compliance matters in support of all aspects of the business. You will work closely with senior leaders and departments throughout the company. As a member of the broader General Dynamics Land Systems global legal team, you will support execution of the company’s global business strategy. The successful candidate will have outstanding legal skills and an ability to manage a broad portfolio.
If you were already working in this position, this is what you would have been working on this week:
1. Provide overall legal support for UK operations in a timely manner, including in the following areas:
1. Commercial/Contracts (including supply chain)
2. Employment law
3. Commercial Property/Real estate
4. Regulatory law (e.g., cyber, privacy, etc.)
5. Competitive tendering
2. Manage portfolio of employee-related matters, liaising closely with the Human Resources department and external legal counsel
3. Manage commercial disputes and litigation, working closely with relevant departments and external legal counsel
4. Coordinate closely with the GDLS Global Legal Team
5. Support the GDLS compliance programs, particularly the Anti-bribery and Anti-corruption program
o Administer local GDUK Anti-Bribery and Anti-Corruption policies and procedures
6. Support the GDLS Global Ethics program by serving as local ethics officer
7. Provide support to the GDUK Board of Directors
1. Plan and coordinate quarterly meetings
2. Act as a secretary for board meetings
3. Liaise with other relevant departments in support of meetings, including Finance and EHS
8. Depending upon the candidate and business needs, provide support for GDLS non-US and non-UK activities, such as in the Middle East and Europe
9. Capability to manage workload independently with minimal supervision
To apply for this role, you will require the following:
* Law degree and post-graduate legal degree
* Current Practicing Certificate for England and Wales
* Relevant experience
* Demonstrated ability to recognize and resolve legal issues and manage attendant risk
* Possess excellent written and oral communication skills
* Must have ability to plan, multi-task, organize and control heavy work volume
* Ability to travel on occasion (less than 5%)
* In-house experience preferred
