The Opportunity:
Avantor is looking for a proactive and detail-focused Laboratory Technician to join our BioProcess Analytics Group team in Cambridge, UK. In this role, you'll support experimental work, sample preparation and keep track of custom item consumables.
This role will be a full-time permanent position based in a brand-new facility at the customer site - The Discovery Centre, Bio-Medical Campus in Cambridge. The Team
As a Laboratory Technician at Avantor, you'll be working closely with a dynamic group of scientists dedicated to supporting high-throughput product quantitation and the chemical analysis of protein samples. The team's core focus is on providing rapid analysis of product and media characteristics, which are crucial for process development. You'll belong to our business department Lab and Production Services, which supports big pharmaceutical companies and laboratories all over the world, in Research and Development within the Life Sciences industry.
Working hours: Monday to Friday, core hours
What we're looking for
1. Education: A degree in biological sciences or equivalent laboratory experience is desirable, but we also will consider candidates with five GCSEs including Maths, English, and one Science subject.
2. Experience: Previous laboratory experience in a similar role is desirable but not essential - enthusiasm and a willingness to learn are key.
3. Strong attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, and ability to meet deadlines.
4. Good written and verbal communication skills, with a proactive approach.
5. Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
How you'll thrive and create an impact:
1. Support high throughput assays including Octet, HPLC, Western Blotting, and Plate-based Assays to aid critical projects.
2. Perform routine maintenance, calibration, and cleaning of laboratory instruments.
3. Assist with sample preparation, including aliquoting samples, standards, and reagents.
4. Maintain inventory levels and manage reagent tracking using management software.
5. Accurately document experimental data and ensure compliance with lab-book policies.
