We are excited to announce a vacancy for a newly created Band 7 senior specialist obesity dietitian to join our Tier 3 weight management service. We are looking for an experienced dietitian to join our fast paced obesity team here at GSTT. You will be playing a vital role in assessing patients living with complex obesity, including nutritional assessment, risk management, assessing psychological wellbeing, and utilising behaviour change skills.
You will join our 40-stong multidisciplinary team. Our dietitians, dietetic assistants and nutritionists lead on medical nutrition therapy, together with physicians, physiotherapists and assistants, clinical psychologists and assistants, and a brilliant admin team. You will support patients living with complex conditions, some of whom are prescribed GLP-1 receptor agonist medications. You will be supporting patients on a 1:1 basis in clinics, both face-to-face and virtual, and in groups. Working alongside the other Band 7 and 8 dietitians, you will provide clinical supervision for Band 6 dietitians, nutritionists and dietetic assistants. Training and support to become a supplementary prescriber will be discussed with the appointed job holder.
You can choose to work remotely from home for some of the week, from the hospital's Guy's base and Harold Moody satellite site, or a combination. You will be delivering online interventions, as well as delivering face-to-face clinics and groups. You will work 09:00-17:00 three days per week, and 11:00-19:00 two days. You will be on site at least 3 days a week for face-to-face clinical work and supervision.
You must have a depth of experience working with patients living with obesity, including key diet and lifestyle advice, GLP1 management and knowledge of bariatric surgery. You must have a developed understanding of weight bias and stigma in both healthcare and everyday life.
