Inspire Education Group (IEG) was formed in August 2020 from the merger of Peterborough Regional College and New College Stamford. The Group also incorporates University Centre Peterborough and delivers specialist commercial training for employers locally, regionally and nationally though our award-winning commercial enterprises which includes Stamford Gas Training, MOT Training Centre and Anglia Professional Training.
Overall, the group is now responsible for 1,250 staff, 8,500 Further Education students, 800 Higher Education students and 1,400 apprentices. We offer a diverse and broad range of courses ranging from Entry Level to Level 6 programmes. These include A Levels at our Stamford site, and throughout the Group – Diploma and skill based courses, Access to Higher Education courses, HNCs, HNDs and Degrees through our University Centre Peterborough. We work with hundreds of employers across the region, delivering apprenticeships and bespoke tailored provision to suit their needs.
Our Higher Education provision at University Centre Peterborough (UCP) was established in 2007 and was previously a joint venture between Anglia Ruskin University (ARU) and Peterborough College. It has now become a wholly owned subsidiary of the Inspire Education Group and is approved by The Open University, Pearson and Bishop Grosseteste as an appropriate organisation to offer higher education programmes delivered at both the Peterborough and Stamford campuses. We also offer Performing Arts courses at our partners – Addict Dance Academy in Leicester and ESPA in Stamford.
People are at the heart of our Group, whether that is our students and trainees, our partners in industry and local services, or our staff who deliver outstanding education and training and shape our culture, ethos and values. We sit at the heart of the region’s schools and business networks providing skills and knowledge training to boost the economic prosperity of our local community, and our excellent reputation for student support and achievement coupled with superb facilities and resources provides students with an outstanding learning environment and progression opportunities.
As a £45million new college group we perform strongly, delivering an excellent learning experience for our students and achieving further improvement in educational achievements. Despite the ongoing real terms cuts to funding, the group posted a healthy surplus (in 2021) and met the threshold for ‘outstanding’ financial health. Our surpluses enable us to invest in buildings and resources to ensure we deliver the best possible learning experience for our students. It also ensures the group remains well-placed to meet future challenges as the further education sector engages with continuing funding, curriculum and assessment reform.
Culturally, IEG is a friendly, vibrant and ambitious place to work. Visitors and students frequently comment on our warm, extended-family feel where staff genuinely care about making a real difference. Our continued success is down to the hard work, determination and quality of these staff, and our ethos is one where everyone contributes to doing all we can to further the success of our students.
