ROLE OF THE JOB
We are looking to recruit a knowledgeable and enthusiastic individual to work as the Rent Deposit Guarantee (RDG) Officer within the private sector housing team.
The role of the RDG officer is to liaise with tenants and landlords to enable sustainable, safe and affordable private rented accommodation. You will work with households in housing need, take referrals from the housing options team, liaise with landlords to increase the number of properties accessible via a rent deposit guarantee scheme and to improve housing conditions and management standards in the Private Rented Sector, including the promotion of property and landlord Accreditation scheme.
You will liaise and negotiate with owners and agents, as well as managing an incentive budget appropriately to attract new customers and develop and administer a rental Bond Scheme. You will create working relationships with all providers in the Private Rented Sector market.
You will have the ability to adapt quickly to work with and assist people with a range of complex needs.
This is a fixed term post for 12 months.
REQUIREMENTS OF THE JOB
* The post holder will be required to have a good standard of education to NVQ Level 3 or equivalent, competent in Microsoft Office, Oracle applications, word processing, spreadsheets and database systems and have a thorough knowledge and experience in a relevant context (housing or a support role).
* Recent experience of working with private landlords, landlord accreditation and rent deposit support schemes would be desirable.
* We are looking for a motivated individual with strong negotiation skills to support tenants and landlords in the private rented sector to assist people to access accommodation.
* A valid UK driver's license is essential.
