Are you a Treatment Room Practice Nurse looking for an exciting new opportunity?
Elgar House Surgery are looking for a motivated and friendly person to provide a first-class nursing service to practice patients, working closely with healthcare colleagues and in collaboration with the GPs on a Mon, Tues, Weds, and Fri for 28 hours per week.
Main duties of the job
1. Practice independently in accordance with RCN code of conduct and with reference to practice guidelines, referring appropriately to GPs.
2. Maintain accurate and complete documentation of patient care.
3. Ensure continuation of own personal and professional development.
4. Undertake patient nursing services including:
1. Wound treatments, applying and removing dressings and sutures.
2. Administering immunisations and vaccinations including children immunisations.
3. Providing patient health education and advice, including travel advice.
4. Taking patient samples, swabs, and specimens, checking temperatures and blood pressures.
5. Carrying out physical examinations, investigatory procedures, and cervical smears.
6. Share responsibility for ensuring effective intra-team and practice-wide communication.
7. Participate in regular nursing/healthcare team meetings.
8. Provide professional advice on practice developments, recommending changes to working practices in line with evidence-based knowledge.
About us
Our team consists of 4 GP partners, 7 Salaried GPs, a Clinical Pharmacist, 2 NPs, 3 PNs, 3 HCAs, a very supportive management and administrative team.
We are a training practice for ST1, ST2, ST3, and FY2 doctors.
We have a list size of just under 15,000 patients.
We use EMIS Web Clinical System and Docman.

Job responsibilities

2. Assess, plan, provide, and evaluate nursing care to meet the needs of individuals and groups within the practice population.
3. Work within the NMC Code of Professional Conduct (NMC, 2002).
4. Carry out skilled, evidence-based nursing care.
5. Demonstrate an analytical approach to clinical assessment of patients in the light of current research and resources.
6. Evaluate and assess nursing care according to clinical need.
7. Adhere to Elgar House and Herefordshire and Worcestershire ICB policies and procedures where appropriate.
8. Attend treatment room meetings.
9. Adhere to PCN policies and procedures.
2. Communication and Liaison Responsibilities
1. Pro-actively establish good communication networks with all members of the practice team and with members of the Primary Health Care Team.
2. Ensure good communication with Jessica Bethel and other members of the Elgar House management team.
3. Maintain records in accordance with the NHSE policy and that of the NMC Guidelines for records and record keeping (NMC, 2002).
Person Specification
Qualifications
* Nursing degree or equivalent experience Registered Nurse (NMC) Evidence of immunisation training and assessment of competence in last 2 years.
* Cytology.
* Travel Immunisations.
* Childhood Immunisations.
* Adult Immunisations.
Experience
* 2 years Primary Care Experience.
