We are looking for an enthusiastic, dynamic and highly motivated Registered Nurse to join our friendly, forward thinking Ophthalmology team at Ipswich Hospital ESNEFT.
We promote a team approach ethos towards service improvements with all staff included in supporting new developments.
You will be required to promote the highest possible standards of care based on professionally determined standards and accept accountability for the patient as an individual, providing autonomy.

Main duties of the job
1. Assess, plan, provide and evaluate care at all stages for the ophthalmic patient according to the Integrated Care Pathway (where applicable)/ under supervision.
2. Keep relevant and accurate records of care (manual and computerised).
3. Be responsible for the quality of data recorded. This data should be accurate, legible (if handwritten), recorded in a timely manner, kept up to date and appropriately filed.
4. Perform routine drug administration meeting the local policy/NMC guidelines including cannulation and IV drug administration where appropriate.
5. Prioritise care, and organise own workload and that of junior staff where appropriate. Work as part of a multidisciplinary team demonstrating awareness of own role and others' roles and responsibilities.
6. Demonstrate effective communication and interpersonal skills.
7. Assist in the supervision of junior staff. Implement directorate and ESNEFT policies and guidelines e.g. Health & Safety, Moving & Handling & Infection Control where appropriate.
8. Assist in cleaning, preparation, use and maintenance of equipment.
9. Effectively communicate with colleagues, patients and visitors, seeking advice from MDT where appropriate.

Person Specification
Experience
1. Recently worked within the acute hospital setting.
2. Ophthalmology experience.
Qualifications
1. NMC registered.
2. Evidence of continuing professional development.
3. Relevant training and mentoring qualification.
Knowledge
1. Knowledge and understanding of evidence-based practice.
2. Understanding and ability to apply clinical governance principles to practice.
3. Knowledge of developments in specialty and current issues driving nursing in general.
4. Knowledge of developments in ophthalmology and current issues driving nursing in general.
