Parts Authority was formed in 1997 by the merger of four companies, that date back to 1973, that had common ownership and had the vision of creating a better vehicle for the wholesale distribution of automotive and truck parts. Parts Authority has become one of the country's largest distributors of automotive and truck parts. The company is headquartered in Long Island, New York and operates distribution centers in New York, New Jersey, Washington D.C., Maryland, Georgia, Arizona, California and Ohio. Parts Authority has been expanding rapidly and now has over 90 locations in eight states with future expansions on the horizon. We are rapidly expanding and looking for a professional, self-motivated individual to fill the role of Director of Financial Planning & Analysis and Reporting.
Responsibilities
The Director of Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) and Reporting will lead the financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and performance reporting for the company. This individual will be responsible for providing strategic financial insights, ensuring the integrity of financial data, and managing financial reporting processes across the organization. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of financial modeling, budgeting processes, and reporting systems, and will be a key partner in driving business decisions through actionable data insights.
Qualifications
Financial Planning & Analysis:
* Lead the annual budgeting and forecasting processes for the company, ensuring alignment with corporate strategies and goals.
* Prepare detailed financial models and forecasts to evaluate business performance, financial viability, and long-term projections.
* Analyze trends, variances, and performance metrics to provide actionable insights to senior management.
* Provide recommendations for improvements in financial performance, cost optimization, and operational efficiency.
Financial Reporting:
* Oversee the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting process, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and compliance with accounting standards.
* Develop and present comprehensive financial reports, including income statements, balance sheets, cash flow statements, and KPI dashboards for internal stakeholders.
* Monitor and review key financial indicators and provide variance analysis for senior leadership.
* Coordinate with auditors to ensure proper accounting practices are followed and reporting is in compliance with regulatory standards.
Strategic Business Partnering:
* Collaborate with department heads and business units to support strategic decision-making, budgeting, and financial planning.
* Provide in-depth financial analysis to identify risks and opportunities in key business areas and make data-driven recommendations.
* Work with cross-functional teams to optimize resource allocation and ensure business targets are met.
Leadership & Team Development:
* Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing FP&A and reporting team.
* Build and maintain a culture of continuous improvement, promoting best practices in financial planning and reporting processes.
* Foster strong relationships across the organization to ensure alignment and collaboration on financial matters.
Process Improvement:
* Drive the improvement and automation of financial processes, systems, and reporting tools to increase efficiency, reduce errors, and enhance the timeliness of reporting.
* Ensure the integrity of data and consistency in reporting across all business units.
* Lead initiatives for system upgrades and enhancements, working closely with IT and other departments to ensure proper system support for FP&A activities.
Requirements
* Minimum of 8-10 years of experience in FP&A, financial reporting, or a similar role, with at least 2 years in a leadership/managerial position.
* Proven track record of managing financial reporting processes, budgeting, forecasting, and strategic financial planning.
* Experience with financial systems, business intelligence tools, and reporting software (e.g., Oracle, Hyperion, HFM, OneStream, Anaplan, Tableau, SAP BPC, etc.). Planful and Power BI preferred, but not required.
* Strong understanding of financial principles, accounting standards (GAAP), and corporate finance.
* Experience with financial modeling, forecasting, and financial reporting.
