The Role
An exciting opportunity is available for someone with NHS experience to undertake a project manager role. This is to facilitate the implementation of the "Scan for safety" Programme within NHS Lanarkshire. This is a National initiative with wide reaching benefits in providing improvements in patient safety and the governance around both implantable devices and theatre consumables. This position needs an individual who is driven, highly competent and has experience of managing a complex workload. They need to have a "can do" attitude and a collaborative and positive approach to implementation of new ways of working, to ensure successful implementation of this project.
What we'll need you to bring
1. Required to hold a first degree or educated to an equivalent level.
2. Proven track record of working in a senior position within the NHS, across multi-professional groups and levels within an NHS organisation, and across statutory and voluntary sector agencies.
3. Knowledge of Project Management methodology applied within an NHS setting, and training, experience and/or qualification in an appropriate Project Management method, such as Prince2.
4. Proven track record of being able to work under pressure and using own initiative, and to multi-task and manage complex projects simultaneously.
5. Minimum of 3 years experience in a management or equivalent position with an extensive knowledge of policy and strategy.
6. Ability to communicate at all levels within and across professional and organisational boundaries.
7. Able to demonstrate qualities of principled leadership and apply leadership skills in a range of situations.
8. High level of leadership and facilitation skills, and ability to apply these in a range of settings.
9. Information Technology skills to use a range of Microsoft software packages including Word Processing, PowerPoint, Excel, Access and Outlook Express, with the capacity to extend skills through training with regard to software for capacity and demand modelling and/or simulation.
Please note for all vacancies where a driving licence is required this must be a full UK/EU/EEA licence.
It would be great if you also have
1. Relevant professional qualification with evidence of continuing professional development.
2. Formal project management training.
3. Formal project management training using methodologies such as AGILE, PRINCE2, Management of Risk (MOR) or Association for Project Management (APM).
4. Experience of working in the Perioperative team or supporting services linking in with Perioperative services.
5. Demonstrable management experience of delivery of projects, ideally, in a technology implementation environment.
6. Proven experience of project management or change management and the use of skills to facilitate change.
7. Experience of co-ordinating all Project Phases including Initiation, Design, Implementation, Transition and Support.
8. Experience of using information for management purposes and in setting and monitoring targets and performance indicators.
9. Experience of working within the acute Healthcare environment and the process in NHS Scotland.
10. Knowledge and experience of delivering quality improvement initiatives.
11. Good knowledge of methodologies and techniques for planning, monitoring and controlling projects.
12. Experience and knowledge of delivering effective customer orientated services.
13. Good knowledge of budgeting and resource allocation procedures and effective financial management skills.
14. Advanced knowledge of stock management systems.
15. Good awareness and understanding of clinical IT systems.
16. Evidence of excellent written and oral communication skills.
17. Evidence of leading a team to incorporate a service improvement or development to improve patient access.
18. Excellent report writing and presentation skills.
19. Evidence of excellent communication and negotiation/influencing skills.
20. Effective leadership skills.
21. Ability to lead and create a clear common purpose amongst the members of the sub-project teams.
22. The ability to find ways of solving or pre-empting problems.
23. Constructing pragmatic proposals for developing new initiatives that balance innovation and excellent modern methods within the resources available, and that have a clear change management plan.

Fixed Term or Secondment for 12 months

Please note this is a fixed term post for 12 months. Where a post only has temporary funding and an existing member of NHS Lanarkshire staff wishes to apply, this will be treated as a secondment. The employee MUST already have written agreement from their line manager to be released on a secondment before applying for the post.
Location and Working Pattern
This role will be based across NHS Lanarkshire with a likely base of University Hospital Hairmyres.
The working pattern for this role Mon-Fri; 9:00-5:00.
