IT Infrastructure Architect
Location: Ipswich or Hemel Hempstead (5 days a week onsite)
Eligibility: Must be eligible to hold a minimum of SC clearance.
This role sits within the Infrastructure Engineering Specialism who deliver the engineering strategy and roadmap that supports BT's commercial strategy through cross-functional business partnering and the participation of a team that pursues innovation as well as engineering excellence. Your role will be key to the success of this function.
What You’ll Be Doing
* Understanding complex business problems and interpreting those into IT technical solutions.
* Planning and delivering activities required to design and implement complex technical solutions, including research, scoping, design, and implementation of IT platforms and solutions.
* Building key artefacts to support business change (e.g., impact assessments, design documents, implementation guidelines).
* Supporting in-life changes of requirements for platforms and systems.
* Developing and maintaining expert knowledge in one or more specialisms.
* Supporting Solutions Architects in creating platform design documents and future roadmaps.
* Proactively identifying and resolving risks, issues, and defects to ensure delivery to required standards.
* Reviewing own work and peers’ outputs to identify and flag errors or potential issues.
* Developing working relationships and communicating with a range of project stakeholders across teams.
The skills you will need
We are looking for individuals with skills in one or more of the following areas:
* Databases: Oracle, SQL
* VMware Products: vSphere, Horizon, AppVolumes, NSX Load Balancers, Virtual Desktop Infrastructure
* HPE Hardware: HPE Storage, Fabric Switches, Backup Technologies
* Operating Systems: Active Directory, MS Exchange, MS SharePoint, File Services, Windows Operating Systems
Additional Requirements:
* Eligibility to hold a minimum of SC clearance.
* Able to regularly attend Defence offices as per customer/platform requirements.
* Technical degree or industry-relevant experience.
* Able to read, understand, and update complex design artefacts.
* Effective communication with a range of customer types across the business.
* Stakeholder management experience.
* Ability to develop subject matter expertise in engineering functions.
* Able to work under direction in a fast-paced environment.
* Understanding of ITIL practices.
