Locum Consultant Community Paediatrician, Named Dr Children Looked After
Whittington Health NHS Trust is seeking an 8 PA Consultant in Community Paediatrics to take the role of Named Doctor for Children Looked After. This will be a locum post for 6 months, to start as soon as possible, with the aim of developing this into a substantive post.
We are looking for a developmental paediatrician to join our Islington Community Paediatrics Team at the Northern Health Centre, Upper Holloway, London. This post covers the Named Dr for Children Looked After Service as well as a wide variety of community paediatrics, doing regular developmental paediatrics including an MDT clinic for severe physical disabilities, contributing to the diagnosis of a variety of developmental disorders and participating on the Child Protection rota with the Camden community consultant team.
Islington has a team of experienced Community Paediatricians, and the Named Doctor for Children Looked After will be working closely and co-located with Social Care at their Highbury office on Elwood Street.
There is some flexibility to accommodate special interests and opportunities exist for developing clinical interests.

Person specification
Qualifications
* MBBS or equivalent
* MRCPCH or equivalent
* On GMC Specialist Register with full GMC registration
* CCT / CESR Paediatrics (or specialty trainee eligible for CCT within 6 months of interview date)
* Subspecialty recognition in community paediatrics and/or neurodisability
* Valid APLS and NLS
Experience
* Higher Specialist training in Community Child Health, Neurodisability
* Definitive Training & experience in Child Protection
* Up to date with Level 3 Child Protection
* Experience as a clinician in an MDT Autism Diagnostic Service
* Experience in CLA
Knowledge
* Excellent Clinical Skills
* Specialist knowledge of issues around child protection & safeguarding
* Special knowledge relevant to community paediatrics in an inner city area of high deprivation.
* Accreditation in standardised developmental assessment tool
* Formal autism assessment course like ADOSS
Research
* Participation in quality improvement or clinical audit
* Undergraduate and Postgraduate teaching/training skills
* Insight into research methods and evaluation
* Publications
* Experience of Educational Supervision, Teaching Skills Course such as Training the Trainers
Management
* Understanding of management
* Formal management training
* Demonstrated ability to manage a service, team or project issues and service planning
