We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Mental Health Support Worker to provide high-quality care and support to a client with mental health needs in the Calderdale area. The successful candidates will be responsible for assisting the client with daily living activities, promoting their mental well-being, and offering emotional support in line with their individual care plan. This role requires two carers working collaboratively to ensure consistent and effective care.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Provide care and support in accordance with the client’s individual care plan.
2. Support the client in managing mental health challenges, encouraging positive coping strategies.
3. Assist with daily living tasks, including meal preparation, personal hygiene, and domestic chores.
4. Monitor and record the client’s well-being, ensuring all notes are clear and up-to-date.
5. Engage the client in social and recreational activities that promote mental and emotional well-being.
6. Ensure the client’s safety and comfort, recognising any changes in condition and reporting them promptly.
7. Work closely with other healthcare professionals to deliver holistic care.
Key Requirements:
1. Experience: Previous experience supporting individuals with mental health conditions is essential. Understanding of mental health frameworks and care approaches is highly desirable.
2. Driving License: A valid full driving license is required. Carers must have no at-fault claims within the past 3 years and no driving convictions within the last 5 years.
3. Language: Clear spoken English is essential to effectively communicate with the client and healthcare team.
4. Gender: Both male and female carers are acceptable.
5. Availability: The ability to commit to working 35 hours per week, split between two carers, with flexibility to cover shifts.
6. Skills: Strong communication skills, empathetic approach, ability to build rapport with clients, problem-solving skills, and a proactive attitude.
7. Relevant qualifications or training in mental health support, such as Mental Health First Aid or similar.
8. A good understanding of safeguarding principles and practice.
