Are you an experienced administrator – ideally with knowledge of the Mental Health Act or a qualification in it - looking for a new challenge? If so, join The Farndon Unit as a Mental Health Act Administrator.
As the Mental Health Act and Administrator you will work as part of the administration team at a purpose-built low secure hospital which offers personalised assessment and recovery-based treatment pathways for women with complex care needs., where you will work 37.5 hours a week ensuring the department upholds a confidential and efficient service in accordance with the Mental Health Act 1983 (amended November 2007).
You will be responsible for managing and analysing Mental Health Act correspondence and documentation, this includes undertaking assessment requests, transfer of authority, consent to treatments, renewals of detention, consent to treatments and arranging hearings, tribunals and appeals.
You will also liaise with clinicians, allied professionals, service users, their families, legal representatives and official agencies, receiving and responding to enquiries and requests for information in accordance with company policy, service level agreements and statutory regulations.

Your key responsibilities will be:
1. Liaising with external authorities to arrange, process and document information in relation to patient admission, referrals, discharges, barring discharges, renewals, appeals, Mental Health Tribunals, ward movements and section changes.
2. Checking all legal documentation in relation to patient detention under the Mental Health Act 1983 (amended November 2007), including section paper, section renewals, rights, consent to treatment and Mental Health Tribunals.
3. Maintaining patients’ clinical records (both electronic and manual) in accordance with Elysium Healthcare procedures, and to ensure the input of valid information in a timely and efficient manner.
4. Producing audits as requested by the Administration Manager and MHA Admin Advisor.
5. Supervising the work within the Mental Health Act Admin Department.
6. Producing statistics for the database for Local Health Authorities, the Mental Health Act Commission, and other statutory bodies.
To be successful in this role, you'll need:
7. Demonstrable experience of administration/ office systems
8. Sound knowledge of MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
9. To be confident in setting up video conferencing meetings.
10. Knowledge of the Mental Health Act 1983 (amended November 2007) and associated legislation.
11. To be able to stay calm and work efficiently under pressure.
12. Good verbal and written communication
13. Be able to use your initiative to plan and prioritise workload.

You will be working at the Farndon Unit, a purpose-built low secure hospital which offers personalised assessment and recovery-based treatment pathways for women with complex care needs.
The Farndon Unit provides low secure care for women with a diagnosis of severe and enduring mental illness and/or personality disorder and/or mild learning disability. You will be working alongside a multidisciplinary team offering personalised assessment and recovery-based treatment pathways, including a trauma specific pathway, for women with complex care needs.
