We require enthusiastic, organised and flexible individuals to support p reception duties within the Cancer Business Unit at University Hospitals of Derby and Burton (UHDB) NHS Foundation Trust.
The Cancer Business Unit is a diverse and exciting department with services delivered across 2 acute hospitals at Royal Derby Hospital and Queens Hospital Burton.
Responsibilities of this role will include reception duties, administration and clerical support for the scheduling of patients requiring Outpatient appointments across a number of different clinical areas within the Cancer Business Unit.
There are opportunities for personal development within both admin and clerical and clinical teams within our Unit.
The post is 37.5 Hours a week to be worked over 5 days providing cover 9am - 5pm.
Applicants must be confident communicators with the ability to liaise with colleagues and patients. Essential qualities are strong organisational/time management skills with the ability to multi-task and work under pressure
Applicants should have demonstrable experience of working in a busy customer-focused or care environment or have call handling and reception experience. Applicants must be experienced in using IT systems and/or appointment systems although training will be given.
Core skills/qualifications include: educated to English Language and Mathematics at O’ level/GCSE level, IT literacy, good written and verbal communication skills, the ability to work as part of a team and individually, with minimal supervision.

Main duties of this role include
• Ensuring patients are arrived into the department with a welcome.
• Booking ambulance transport for patients.
• Escalating any patient queries to the nurse in charge.
• Maintaining a warm and welcoming reception area for patients.
• Using your initiative.
• Ability to multitask and think on your feet.
• Ability to use multiple computer systems.
• Relay delays in clinics to patients.
• Support the clinicians with any administration duties required.
