Description
As part of Torbay's commitment to children and young people, an opportunity has arisen for a part-time Community Care Worker based in the Family Intervention Team within the Early Help Service. This role has a central part to play in the redesign of the Early Help Service by delivering interventions and activities that ensure children and young people's needs are identified and met at the earliest possible stage.
This is an outcomes-focused service aligned closely to the Government's Supporting Families Agenda and embedded within Family Hubs. Therefore, the roles will involve working closely with children, young people, and their families delivering evidence-based interventions.
The Family Intervention Team works systemically, but at the same time, you will be expected to keep children and young people at the center of all your work.
As a Community Care Worker in the Family Intervention Team, you will also work with a number of key partner agencies to ensure a joined-up approach is taken to meeting children and young people's needs. To succeed in this role, you will need to be a calm and systematic worker who is able to develop and maintain relationships with children, young people, parents, and professionals from partner agencies.
You must be a good communicator and be able to work under pressure to ensure good outcomes for children and young people. It is essential that any applicant has a good knowledge of assessment, planning, and evidence-based interventions (e.g., Solihull, Incredible Years). A good working knowledge of the Children's Act 1989 and 2004, Adoption legislation, Crime and Disorder Act 1998 (Parenting Orders), and Anti-Social Behaviour Act 2003 is also desirable along with a good understanding of contemporary challenges that families now face. Therefore, previous experience of working with children and young people is considered an essential requirement of applicants.
Applicants must be educated to GCSE level or equivalent.
Please note the actual salary for this role will be a pro-rata amount of the full-time equivalent salary shown.

Skills
* Ability to carry out assessments, plan and deliver needs-based packages of support.

This role requires the ability to fulfil all spoken aspects of the role with confidence and fluency in English.
Knowledge
* Understanding of basic human needs, physical, emotional, and social.

* Knowledge of issues facing families at risk of family breakdown.
* Self-awareness of own strengths and weaknesses.
Experience & Qualifications
* GCSE pass in English at Grade C or above or equivalent.
* Experience of work in a health or social care environment (paid or unpaid) with children and young people.
* Experience of working with children, young people, and families displaying challenging behaviour.
* Experience of health/social care needs and services.
* Experience of teamwork.
