Technical Director - Hydrology - Renewables
Salary: Up to £80,000 dependent on experience

Eden Scott are pleased to be supporting their international renewable energy consultancy client with the appointment of a Technical Director (Hydrology). This position represents an excellent opportunity to lead and develop an industry leading team and operate exclusively within the renewable energy sector.
The Environmental team performs a range of planning and environmental related services across a renewable energy project's life span. They bring together qualified planners and project managers with a range of technical specialists to support their clients through site identification, feasibility, scoping, EIA, HRA, and post-consent support.
Main Tasks and Responsibilities
1. Manage the Hydrology team budget by providing forecasts and updated narrative as required;
2. Represent the company at trade events and client meetings;
3. Maintain the overall quality of the work outputs from the team and ensure they meet all relevant quality management standards;
4. Line management of the Hydrology team staff, ensuring performance management and mentoring of team members in their career growth;
5. Working with the relevant bid managers, own the tendering process to make sure all deadlines are met and the relevant authorisations are sought prior to any documents being released;
6. Oversee the completion of all standalone hydrology tendering jobs;
7. Ensure appropriate resourcing is in place for designated team/ and each project or workstream and ensure that all relevant company procedures are being followed;
8. Write and review technical reports and other project deliverables in accordance with company standards and technical governance expectations in line with client needs;
9. Training - keep up to date with knowledge of relevant legislation, maintain knowledge of best practices within ecology/hydrology consultancy. Sharing this knowledge across the team and driving the professional training and competencies of the Hydrology team;
10. Gain and maintain knowledge of the onshore renewable energy industry and identify and attend training when required;
11. Ensure client satisfaction through project communication, engagement and programme delivery;
12. Be instrumental in improving environmental performance and developing impact assessments for a diverse range of clients;
13. Develop innovations to increase efficiency;
14. Assisting the project managers to track project deliverables for the hydrology projects and technical tasks, and progressing them in accordance with scope, programme and budget;
15. Support business sector development and build strong client relationships as well as developing your own internal and external network;
16. Support the development of client proposals, tender submissions and responses to framework requests, and the identification of potential future work streams;
17. Working with the Director for Onshore Consenting and Environment to develop and execute the Business Plan for the Onshore Team, and the development of the strategy to deliver this;
18. Provide project and team updates to the Director for Onshore Consenting and Environment on projects, including financial and resourcing information for the Company MD and Board.
Requirements:
1. Experienced within a Hydrology related role;
2. Experienced within the Renewable Energy Sector;
3. If not residing near to one of the clients offices, the employee will ideally be willing to travel to one of our clients offices, Glasgow, Stirling, Inverness, Newcastle or Aberystwyth (minimum of 3 days per month), this will be expensed by the company.
