Job summary An opportunity has arisen for an exciting new role within the Orthopaedic Therapy Team - a Band 2 Therapy Assistant (36 hours). The post will involve cross site working at both the Peterborough and Hinchingbrooke sites. The Orthopaedic team provides inpatient therapy services to trauma and elective orthopaedic patients at both Peterborough City and Hinchingbrooke Hospitals and is a very dynamic and supportive team. This role involves transporting and replenishing essential equipment, such as commodes, walking frames and crutches, across the three main hospital sites. It also includes supporting community access and home visits by driving Occupational Therapy staff and at times, patients. Departmental vehicles are provided for these tasks and therefore the ability to meet the travel requirements of the role, including holding a valid driving licence, is essential. Main duties of the job To enable patients to maximise their participation in rehabilitation programmes developed by the registered staff or Therapy Assistant Practitioner (TAP) in conjunction with the patient, their families and carers. To undertake specific prescribed activities and interventions with an identified caseload of patients. To work as a supervised member of the multidisciplinary team, maintaining good communication with the registered therapists, TAPs and other members of the multi-disciplinary team with the aim to support timely discharge. To support the team in ordering and delivering equipment. To work alongside the equipment team as required with the focus on supporting orthopaedic patients. To support the registered therapists and TAPs in arranging access/home visits and support on the visit as required. To complete administrative duties.
