We have an exciting new opportunity for an experienced Midwife to take a step up into this fantastic role of Fetal Wellbeing & Surveillance Midwife.
The post holder will be an expert in the assessment, planning and implementation of all areas of midwifery care for women throughout the childbirth continuum. They will work closely with other health professionals aligned to midwifery to ensure continuity of care. They will be responsible for supporting midwifery staff, obstetricians and students within the practice environment, to be competent in CTG monitoring and fetal surveillance.
Main duties of the job
The Fetal Monitoring Lead will support staff working on the labour ward to provide high quality intrapartum risk assessments, fresh eyes and accurate CTG interpretation. The role should contribute to building and sustaining a safety culture on the labour ward with all staff committed to continuous improvement.
Provide a high standard of midwifery care at all times, within a multi-disciplinary team to facilitate the development of required clinical skills to midwives.
Support and work closely within Maternity with the Lead Obstetrician for foetal wellbeing and the Inpatient Matron, Education Team and midwives in developing programmes of education for CTG interpretation to achieve better birth outcomes.
Create good learning opportunities and environments in the clinical practice environment and maintain communication networks with the wider multidisciplinary Team and other foetal wellbeing midwives.
