Footsteps to Futures are an independent organisation who have been delivering a high standard of residential care across 4 homes in the Nottinghamshire area, with plans to open a further 2 in the next 12 months.
We are dedicated to the nurturing, safety and progress of all the young people that call Footsteps ‘home’, supporting with their day to day lives and empowering them as they grow toward adulthood.
We are currently recruiting a Residential Care Worker to join our 3 bed EBD home near Selston. Hilltop House is a safe and nurturing environment for young people aged 12 to 16 years who have experienced adverse childhood trauma, neglect and abuse and present with emotional behavioural difficulties. At times the role can be challenging, but the rewards of seeing the young people grow, develop and overcome their pasts gives a sense of job satisfaction like no other.
Resilience, compassion and patience are fundamental attributes needed in this role as a corporate parent. You will be a positive role model and work with our young people to build positive, trusting and meaningful relationships, support them with their goals and ambitions, and promote their wellbeing, rights and independence.
We welcome applications from candidates who do not have professional experience but do have a genuine passion for working with children, as well as those who have previously worked in a role with transferable skills such as adult care, youth work, social work, prison service and police force.

* Provide support and guidance to the young people who reside with us.
* Create a safe, nurturing and happy home in which they can grow socially and emotionally.
* Use PACE to support building trusting relationships and foundations for growth.
* Safeguard each young person, advocate on their behalf, identify concerns and report them effectively.
* Maintain clear and consistent boundaries.
* Positively engage and play an active part in everyday home life and activities. This will include but not limited to household duties, school runs, health appointments, extra-curricular activities and hobbies.
* Fulfil all aspects of your role with a ‘can-do’ attitude in line with company policies and procedures.

Applicants should be aware that the role requires long shifts and overnight sleeps in the home and therefore should carefully consider the suitability of the role before applying.
Hourly rate of pay is £12 - £13 depending on experience and qualification.
Sleep ins are paid at a flat rate of £62.40 per sleep. Average 8 sleeps per month.

All successful candidates offered employment will be subject to compulsory screening checks including employment references and an Enhanced DBS check. In line with OFSTED compliance candidates must be aged 21 years or over.
