Job summary Interview date - Thursday 3rd April 2025 This is a substantive post in response to increasing demand and to support further service development. The appointee will help provide integrated clinical and laboratory services (currently BCSH level 2a for patients at Warwick Hospital, working towards re-commencing level 2b, as part of a recent countywide service review). They will also be part of the countywide Haematology Consortium, which currently consists of 14 consultants, providing BCSH level 2b care to patients throughout Coventry and Warwickshire. This a general haematology post covering both malignant and non-malignant practice, although candidates will be encouraged to develop areas of expertise / interest. This is a 10 programmed activity (PA) post plus on-calls. Main duties of the job To support the inpatient service in Haematology at Warwick Hospital Ward rounds conducted three times a week and board rounds twice week. Review of new admissions and acutely unwell inpatients. Support the day unit and urgent procedure lists Contribute to the county wide consultant haematology on call rota (current 1 in 6). There will be 13 consultants across Coventry and Warwickshire who provide for 2 simultaneous on-calls, one consultant for Ward 34 at UHCW and the other on-call for the 3 hospitals but not ward 34. Time off in lieu will be considered for weekend working. Outpatient workload There are three outpatient clinics a week; two of which are general haematology with the potential for the third clinic being developed as specialist interest clinic. One PA will be allocated for administration time as part of this 10 PA contract.
