We are looking for a highly skilled Deaf Communication Support Worker to provide sign language interpretation support, mostly in a high school setting. The role is mainly to provide this communication support, to enable access to education and other services for children, young people and their families.
In addition, the post holder will provide sign language interpretation support, offer advice and provide training to staff within the Education Service.
You will work directly under the line manager of the Deaf Support Service within the wider Supporting Learners Service.
Qualification, Registration and Skill Requirements
1. You are required to be qualified in British Sign Language (BSL) to at least SCQF Level 10 - BSL Level 6.
2. You will have effective communication skills, particularly the interpretation of spoken and written English into BSL and BSL to English.
3. You will be skilled in working in a dynamic environment and as part of a team.
4. Before confirming to your appointment, you will be required to obtain Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) scheme membership through Disclosure Scotland and become a member of the relevant PVG scheme.
