We have an excellent opportunity for an experienced and highly motivated Mechanical Design Engineer to join this award-winning global leader in smart flooring technology based in London and Cambridge. This is a hybrid role working from the London or Cambridge office and working from home.

About the role
As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you will be a key part of their exciting next growth stage and your performance and entrepreneurial skills will have a direct bearing on the company and where they go next.
You will report directly to the CTO and be responsible for the development of next generation systems, working hand in hand with the manufacturing team to introduce new suppliers, processes and materials. Your responsibilities will include:
1. Specification and development of electro-mechanical systems
2. Regulatory compliance
3. Management of external design resources, both in the UK and overseas
4. Development of robust design and test processes
5. Liaising with electronics hardware, production engineering and procurement teams
About you
To be successful for the role of Mechanical Design Engineer, you must have experience through the full product lifecycle from concept to production of high-volume electromechanical products for use in the built environment and have / be:
1. At least five years leading complex product development
2. Experience and oversight of 3D CAD (e.g. Solidworks) and Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) systems
3. Experience with Robust Design and Reliability Engineering practices
4. Detailed knowledge of product test and verification methods and the ability to create test specifications
5. A good understanding of Material Science
6. Experience with a range of manufacturing technologies including CNC, injection moulding, composites, die-casting and DMLS
7. Knowledge of the economics of manufacturing including product costing
8. Prototype manufacturing and test
9. Experience with analytic packages in particular FEA stress analysis

The position of Mechanical Design Engineer offers the chance to work with some of the world’s leading global brands and organisation and offers an excellent salary of £40,000 to £50,000 per annum depending on experience.
