We are seeking an enthusiastic individual with a passion for animals to join us as a Veterinary Patient Care Assistant at ChesterGates Veterinary Specialists.
Location: Chester
Contract: Permanent
Shift Pattern: Working 5 days per week, on a 7.5 hour shift
Week One: Monday - Friday 07.00 - 15.00
Week Two: Monday - Friday 11.00 - 19.00
Week Three: Monday - Sunday 19.30 - 07.00
Week Four: Off

About the role:
The Patient Care Assistant role is one of the foundations of an outstanding veterinary practice, and as a PCA you will be involved in supporting our team of qualified RVNs and Vets to provide outstanding care to our patients.
Some of the duties will include:
2. Nursing care to patients
3. Assisting Vets and Nurses in restraining animals for treatment, samples, catheter placements and medications
4. Cleaning, walking, and feeding of patients
5. Preparation of theatre; helping set up/close down and clean kits
6. General cleaning and maintenance duties
7. Running internal urine and blood lab samples, sending samples away and preparing medication prescriptions
8. Covering the receptionist desk, including answering queries, booking appointments and taking payments
What we're looking for in our Veterinary Patient Care Assistant:
9. An excellent communicator with strong empathy
10. Experience in animal welfare essential, including feeding, cleaning, medicating and handling and a high level of understanding of how to meet the welfare needs of animals
11. Must be able to cover all shift patterns as the hospital runs 24 hours a day
12. Resilient with the ability to cope with potentially distressing and emotional situations
13. A positive attitude and excellent teamwork skills
14. Experience in looking after animals in a veterinary environment would be desirable
