About The Role
As Director of Community & Sport Development, you will take overall strategic leadership for the development and delivery of swim, bike, run, and triathlon at grassroots level. This wide-ranging and challenging remit spans work across both British Triathlon and Triathlon England, with specific ownership for the development strategy for England (the BIG Active).
This role is a key senior leadership position within the sport and the wider sporting sector. We want as many people to be able to swim, bike, and run as well as watch and enjoy our sport, so if you are ready for that challenge, this role could be for you!
Alongside a wide-ranging directorate remit, the Director of Community & Sport Development is also a key member of the British Triathlon Executive Team, contributing to the wider organisational strategy and modelling strong leadership behaviours. You will:
* Lead the Development Directorate of the National Governing Body, driving forward the Triathlon England Development Strategy across Swim, Bike, Run, and Triathlon.
* Oversee and provide strategic leadership for all work strands of grassroots development, including participation (across adults, children & young people, and families), coaching and workforce development, and club development.
* Lead on relationships and partnerships with a wide range of national stakeholders and partners, including Sport England, Triathlon England, and Performance Pathway.
We're searching for a Senior Leader with substantial experience in sports development and programme delivery in complex environments. A highly effective communicator, you'll have a real passion and energy, along with big ambitions for British Triathlon and the sport of triathlon. You'll be strategic, with the ability to inspire others and build and lead high-performing teams. Proven experience of managing large budgets and complex programme delivery is vital to ensure the achievement of annual objectives and project timelines.
The successful candidate will report to our Chief Executive Officer and will be an integral and valued member of the Development Directorate and Executive Team. With a budget responsibility of circa £3m, your direct reports will include our Head of Participation, Head of Workforce, Head of Events, and Head of Clubs and Regions, with a wider directorate of around 25.
The role will benefit from our successful hybrid working model, where colleagues work from our Loughborough head office a couple of days a week, providing a supportive, collaborative, and fun working environment. Frequent travel within the UK will also be an important part of the role.
