Job summary To provide effective clinical and professional leadership to all midwives, support staff, students and the multidisciplinary team working on Delivery Suite To have key responsible for the co-ordination and development of team activities in the delivery suite setting to ensure the delivery of a cost-effective, efficient and quality service. Work in collaboration with the Inpatient matron, Deputy and Head of Midwifery, lead Obstetrician and other key members of the team to ensure pathways of care reflect best practice and are women centred. The post holder will have overall responsibility for the operational management of clinical service delivery at ward level for Delivery Suite. They will provide excellent leadership and support for the team acting as a lead role model to ensure the provision of excellent women centred evidence based, quality care. The post holder will provide clinical and managerial leadership to those working in roles up to and including band 6 level. They will be a highly skilled clinical expert with specialised knowledge in caring for women. The post holder will work with the matron for inpatient services to further develop the service. Main duties of the job Observe the NMC Code for nurses and midwives (NMC 2015), promote a women centred service, which will ensure continuity of care Exercise leadership and maintain professional attitude acting in an exemplary manner at all time. Ensure effective communication between clients, relatives, carers and colleagues. Provide expert advice on the referral of women to high-risk care. Exercise leadership and inspire colleagues to provide a high standard of practice based on current guidelines, policies, and protocols to improve standards quality and to develop professional practice. Responsibility for organising the dissemination of findings of local and national midwifery research and act as change agent particularly with regard to the development, implementation and evaluation of evidence based on guidelines, policies, protocols and standards relating to midwifery practice.
