This respected offshore law firm is looking for a litigation associate to join its Guernsey office. The role promises the opportunity to work closely with Partners on a varied practice that includes some big-ticket commercial, financial services, and insolvency work, as well as more general cases that might include employment, personal injury, or property disputes for example. It will suit someone with good foundations in litigation, who is eager to learn on the job and build their skillset, and who enjoys the challenge of a practice where no two days are the same. You will also be encouraged to play an active role in client management and business development, making it an excellent move for someone who really wants to get involved in every aspect of the firm’s work. Guernsey offers a high standard of living on a beautiful island. The salary will be competitive and subject to only 20% tax. The professional exposure will be first-class and the prospects for progression good. For the right person, this might just be the perfect combination of lifestyle and career move. The Channel Islands For a city-based lawyer who thrives on big-ticket work but craves an escape from the rat race, few places compete with the Channel Islands, home to two of the world’s premier offshore financial centres. Jersey and Guernsey have strong and highly competitive legal sectors, housing teams that number many alumni of the leading London or international outfits amongst their ranks. They do complex blue-chip work, in a nice environment without the trappings of a big law firm culture. Work-life balance tends to be good, leaving plenty of time to enjoy what is an enviable coastal lifestyle and London is only an hour away making it easy to get that city fix when (or if) you need it. Process Interviews will take place by videoconference with start dates typically around 3-4 months later (depending on your notice period). Our clients provide comprehensive assistance with visas (where required) and relocation. Requirements The role is most likely to suit someone in the 2-6 years’ PQE range, but we are happy to consider any suitably qualified applicants. You will be UK or Guernsey qualified, or if qualified elsewhere, you will have experience practising in the UK, Ireland, or offshore. While City lawyers are of course encouraged to apply, this background is not essential – we are equally keen to hear from regional lawyers with good credentials in a contentious team. Package Competitive salary with reduced tax rate (20%). Comprehensive benefits, bonus, and relocation package (flights temporary accommodation on arrival expenses allowance). Origin Legal International Our team has 25 years’ experience of helping lawyers to make international and offshore moves. If you would like to find out more about this role or chat about an overseas move in general, please get in touch.
