Main duties of the job
The role of the Clerical Administrator is to provide a full clerical to support the Medical Secretaries, consultants and management within the Cellular Pathology Department inprocessing of daily workloads and ad hoc office duties.

Specialist Regional Services
We provide the Mersey Regional Burns & Plastic Surgery Unit at Whiston Hospital and the Spinal Injuries Unit at Southport Hospital to more than 4 million people across the whole of Merseyside, West Lancashire, Cheshire, Isle of Man and North Wales.

Job responsibilities
KEY DUTIES
1. Operate an effective bring forward system and filing system.
2. Make full use of the computer systems and packages available. Ensure all information is updated regularly and take responsibility for reporting any faults, incorrect patient data and breaches in security.
3. To use the Careflow/SCR systems to check patient details.
4. Respond to telephone enquiries for results from GP surgeries, wards, clinics etc.
5. Data entry of histology referrals.
6. Updating spreadsheet
7. Provide clerical support to Consultant Histopathologists in gathering information for MDTs.
8. To ensure that all reports are sorted and distributed to the relevant bodies through internal and external posting systems in a timely and efficient manner.
9. To provide cross cover for colleagues as and when required.
10. Undertake audits as required.
11. Ensure all outgoing post is sent out within 24 hours of signing.
12. Filing of test results appropriately in a timely manner.
13. General housekeeping of the office environment.
14. Assist with collection of clinical data for audit and disseminate information to teams.
15. Obtain information requested by Administration Services Manager as and when required.
16. Be able to work as part of a team, promote effective flows in the department to cover leave and ensure office runs smoothly.
17. To work in a flexible manner in accordance with Trust Policy.
18. Work with managers and administrative staff to review working practices, ways of working and find solutions to problems.
19. Any other duties required by Line Manager.
ADMINISTRATIVE RESPONSIBILITIES
General office duties including dealing with post, telephone queries, photocopying, updating spreadsheets, inputting referrals onto Pathology designated system. Participate in housekeeping of the office environment.
TEACHING & TRAINING RESPONSIBILITIES
Attend appropriate training and education sessions at the request of the manager.
