Job Title: Senior Enforcement Officer Location: Redcar, North Yorkshire Contract: Temporary Hours: Full-time Pay Rate: £19.66 per hour About the Role We are seeking a Senior Enforcement Officer to join our team in Redcar, North Yorkshire. In this role, you will play a key part in investigating and resolving breaches of planning control, ensuring compliance with local regulations and policies. Key Responsibilities Conduct investigations into alleged breaches of planning control, including out-of-hours site visits, surveillance, and research into site histories. Accurately record findings and update the planning enforcement system. Handle correspondence and enquiries from the public, businesses, Councillors, MPs, and other organisations regarding planning enforcement. Engage in negotiations and correspondence with relevant parties to resolve breaches in line with the Council’s enforcement policies and best practices. Draft enforcement notices and other legal documentation related to planning control breaches. Prepare reports and recommendations for senior officers regarding enforcement actions. Support planning officers with enforcement appeals, including drafting appeal statements, preparing evidence, and representing the Council at public inquiries, hearings, and court proceedings. About You To succeed in this role, you will need: Extensive experience in planning enforcement, including handling complex cases, appeals, and prosecutions within a council or private sector role. Strong negotiation and conflict resolution skills to handle sensitive and challenging situations effectively.
