Job Title: SEN Teacher (Mainstream Primary) Location: Croydon Position: Full-Time, Permanent (Starting January) About the Role An inclusive mainstream primary school in Croydon is looking for a committed and experienced SEN Teacher to join their specialized SEN department. This full-time, permanent position offers a unique opportunity to work with students with additional needs in a collaborative and supportive school environment. Key Responsibilities Plan and deliver individualized lessons for students with a range of special educational needs, including autism, ADHD, speech and language difficulties, and other learning challenges. Work alongside the SENCo and classroom teachers to design and implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs) that are tailored to the specific needs of each student. Use a variety of creative and flexible teaching strategies to ensure lessons are engaging, accessible, and inclusive for all students. Provide one-on-one or small group support, helping students achieve their academic, social, and emotional goals. Monitor and assess student progress, offering regular feedback to parents, carers, and school staff. Foster a nurturing, inclusive, and positive classroom atmosphere that promotes confidence, independence, and a love of learning. Collaborate with teaching assistants, therapists, and external specialists to provide holistic support for students. Participate in ongoing training, staff meetings, and school initiatives to support the development of the SEN department. Qualifications & Experience Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent teaching qualification, with experience teaching students with SEN. A strong understanding of SEN strategies, behaviour management, and inclusive teaching practices. Experience in an SEN department or providing targeted support in a mainstream school is highly desirable. Patience, creativity, and empathy to engage students with a wide range of needs. Excellent communication and teamwork skills to collaborate with colleagues, parents, and external professionals. A commitment to continuous professional development and a passion for making a difference in the lives of SEN students. Enhanced DBS check and legal right to work in the UK.
