Job Title: Adolescent Practitioner - Reparation/Youth Justice Starting Salary: £30,559 progressing to £33,366 pa Hours: 37.0 Location: Watford Contract Type: Permanent Directorate: Childrens Services About the team This is an exciting opportunity to join Hertfordshire's Youth Justice Policy team to share in our vison of effectively supporting every young person that enters the Criminal Justice System. The Youth Justice Policy team manage Court imposed community Orders across all of Hertfordshire. Most Court Orders include an element of reparation or unpaid work which offers the victims of crime the opportunity to receive direct restoration or have a say in the work that young people carry out in the community. About the role The postholder will work directly with young people on various projects throughout South Hertfordshire where the completion of their reparation or unpaid work will take place. In addition to this work being restorative, it should offer the young person the opportunity to gain new skills, obtain qualifications and improve their life opportunities. The projects can provide support to charities, local groups and individuals. The role also has the responsibility to work within clear Health and Safety permeameters regarding community projects, internal venues, and the use of equipment. About you The successful applicant will be experienced in working with young people from diverse backgrounds and have a clear understanding of safeguarding responsibilities. They will be able to engage young people and sustain their commitment and creativity in working with these young people over extended periods of time. The primary aim of our service is to support young people to make changes in their life to reduce their risk of further offending. In addition to working directly with young people, the successful applicant will have the ability to work collaboratively and closely with colleagues and partners, have excellent skills of time management, record keeping and the ability to present information clearly in writing and to adhere to National Standards. Essential: Experience of working with young people from diverse backgrounds to deliver a service Experience of completing risk assessments Ability to work collaboratively with a range of stakeholders Excellent communication skills both written and verbal Excellent time management and record keeping Driving licence and access to a vehicle for work Desirable: Direct experience of working with young people within the Youth Justice system Within this role you can really make a difference to the lives of young people and their families.
