Teaching Assistant Vacancy
Interested in working as a teaching assistant in a specialist school supporting pupils with a variety of learning difficulties? Excellent rate of pay £425 - £500 per week. Available for day-to-day supply or interested in a full-time position? Prior experience with children with learning difficulties or challenging behaviour? Looking for a Monday to Friday role with weekends off?
Then we may have the role for you!
Vision for Education works closely alongside a specialist school in Cardiff that is looking to recruit an enthusiastic and experienced teaching assistant to join their school for both day-to-day supply and full-time positions.
Ideally, you will have experience teaching/supporting autistic pupils with a great manner of building relationships with both students and staff. Although experience isn’t always necessary! The right attitude and willingness to learn go a long way!
The students attend the school due to a diagnosis of Autism and many have co-existing conditions including ADHD, sensory processing disorder, learning disabilities, disruptive behaviour disorders, mood disorders, anxiety, tics and Tourette syndrome, epilepsy, and learning disabilities.
You would need to be confident and capable of supporting pupils in an educational capacity that do have difficulties with communication, eating, and toileting, as well as those who have sensory difficulties. Therefore, a resilient character that has the ability to work proactively with challenging behaviour would be ideal.
The role is more challenging than in mainstream schools, but the class sizes are smaller, so you’ll really have a great opportunity to build rapport and make an impression on the children.
So whether you have 10 years, 2 years, or 2 months of experience in supporting children/adults with Autism, or even if you have a close personal connection to Autism, get in touch!
The centre has been known to appoint candidates who get on particularly well on a long-term basis, which is a real incentive to show off your skill sets!
