To provide, in collaboration with clinical colleagues, a comprehensive spinal service to patients intheCoventryandWarwickshirearea.Thiswillincludeensuringthatallappropriatewaitinglistsand waiting times are adhered to; that services are provided in an effective and efficient mannerand that the principles of risk management and clinical governance are maintained at all times.Whilst this position is not a formal RCS approved fellowship, the successful applicant will be giventhe opportunity to work alongside the existing neuro spinal surgeons and orthopedic spinal surgeontoobtainexperienceandskills inarangeofspinalprocedures(pendingRCSapproval)including:
· Spinaltrauma
· Spinaltumors includingprimaryandMetastatic spinaltumors
· Degenerativespinalconditions
· Minimalinvasivespinesurgeryincludingimageguidedspinalfixation(theunithastheOArmand is acquiring aroboticspinal platform)
· Spinalinfection
· Pain procedures
DutiesofthePost
· Management ofelectiveandemergencyspinalsurgerypatientsadmittedundertheircare.
· Attendmorninghandover andradiologymeetingswiththewiderteam.
· Leadingspinalout-patient clinics,assessingnewreferralsandfollow-uppatients.
· Attending,contributingandleadingtheweeklySpinalMDTmeeting.
· Undertake appropriate audits in Spine under supervision of the Spine team – minimum ofonecompleted auditismandatory
· Provide,anddevelopfurtherwithclinicalcolleagues,spinalservicesfortheTrustincollaboration with colleagues in all disciplines including primary and tertiary care, whereappropriate,to provide an integrated servicefor patients.
· Facilitatetimelydischargeofpatients
