Job overview
The post holders’ base will either be at Royal Derby Hospital, at Queen's Hospital Burton or could be a combination of the two.
DME at UHDB has developed and expanded considerably over the past 5 years. At the Royal Derby Hospital site there are 16 Consultants and 4 Acute Inpatient Geriatric Wards and at Queen’s Hospital, Burton we have 3 Consultants and 2 Acute Inpatient Geriatric Wards.
Main duties of the job
The Derby based Parkinson's Team was awarded a National Parkinson Foundation Centre of Excellence status by the NPF in 2011 and following four yearly reviews is accredited until 2026 and is one of only two such centres in the UK. Our nationally recognized multidisciplinary movement disorder clinic is led by Dr Skelly and we are seeking to develop the service at Burton.
The Department’s Academic Lead is Professor Adam Gordon, current President of the British Geriatrics Society. Professor Gordon’s appointment has enhanced the varied research options within the Department and allowed us to establish a Geriatric Liaison service to provide in-reach services throughout the Trust and specifically support to General Surgery and their emergency laparotomy patients in line with the NELA guidance.
