To perform and independently report on a range of diagnostic ultrasound obstetric and gynaecology examinations in line with national and departmental guidelines, in order to provide a high quality service for Ashford and St Peters NHS Trust. To run the department in the absence of the Lead Sonographer on a day to day basis. To maintain established clinical standards, particularly in respect to patient care, clinical risk and Health and Safety. To liaise effectively with other departments and health care professionals as necessary. To participate in auditing, reporting, presentation and administration of the ultrasound service as required. To participate in the practical and theoretical training of student sonographers. To understand the implications of the Health and Safety at Work Act, and ensure a safe environment for patients, visitors and staff according to the Trusts Health and Safety Policy.
