Chair of the Board of Trustees for Ladybird Forest Pre-School Job description At Ladybird Forest Pre-School, we provide much valued Early Years care and education to the community of Ampthill, Bedfordshire and are rated “Outstanding” by Ofsted. We are looking for a Chair to lead our Board of Directors. The Role: As Chair, you will join the Board of Directors in ensuring that the Pre-School, a registered charity, maintains and develops its services to children, is well run, and meets its legal and financial obligations. With your colleagues on the Board and the Management team, you will help to shape the Pre-School’s strategic direction. You will share our passion for ensuring that Ladybird continues to provide an outstanding level of care and education to young children in our community. Your tenure will automatically run until the AGM in June 2025, but you would be invited to nominate yourself for election for the following 12 months. As well as the AGM, you will also attend termly evening meetings with the Management team and termly meetings with the Board, which can on occasion be held online. You will also hold termly supervisions with the Pre-School Manager and Administration Manager, perform an annual audit of our documentation and provide some ad hoc support and guidance to the Management team as necessary. Being Chair of the Board of Directors at Ladybird Forest Pre-School is a highly rewarding way to support our organisation. Please note that Chair / Director roles are unremunerated voluntary positions, although reasonable expenses will be paid. Your skills and experience: If you have knowledge of the Early Years or education sectors, or previous Board experience in a comparable field, we would love to hear from you. You will enjoy working collaboratively with Board members, who will be parents and carers of children at the Pre-School, and the Management team. As the member of the Board without children at the Pre-School, you will be able to offer a uniquely independent and valued perspective when discussing Pre-School matters. You will be open to standing for re-election for a number of years, to provide stability and continuity for the Pre-School. We would prefer a candidate who is part of the local community and can attend meetings in person.
