Jackson Hogg Procurement division is pleased to be partnering with a growing manufacturing organisation in Billingham on the appointment of a Buyer to join their purchasing team. This role is full-time and permanent and can offer up to £35k.
Reporting into: Head of Procurement
Key Responsibilities:
1. Processing of purchase orders for the business.
2. Sourcing activities and supplier onboarding.
3. Supplier relationship management.
4. Inventory management.
5. Supporting the procurement department with regards to indirect and direct material supply.

Working Hours: On-site role with working hours of Monday to Friday 07:30-16:00 or 08:00-16:30.
The Role:
1. Responsible for the direct and indirect strategic sourcing for manufacturing operations, production materials, operational services, projects, and general consumable items as designated.
2. Accurate forecasting and monitoring stock levels, including meeting the varying demands of production.
3. Working closely with external suppliers and internal manufacturing project teams to achieve quality, timescales, and cost-effectiveness.
4. Negotiating delivery timetables with suppliers based in the UK, Europe, and China.
5. Support cross-functional business objectives and key initiatives.
6. Ownership of cost savings and continuous improvement initiatives.
7. Support the implementation of a new ERP system.
8. Assist with the development of procurement processes and procedures to reduce non-value add activities.
9. Management of supplier day-to-day issues and core activity streams.
10. Conduct new supplier searches and monitor market conditions to support strategic sourcing plans.
11. Conduct regular reviews with internal stakeholders and maintain strong working relationships.
Person Specification:
1. At least 2-3 years' purchasing experience, ideally in a manufacturing or engineering environment.
2. Experience working with cross-functional teams and suppliers.
3. Able to demonstrate cost reduction and continuous improvement initiatives.
4. Strong negotiation skills.
