Latham House Medical Practice, one of the UK's largest doctors' surgeries, is looking for a committed, innovative, and enthusiastic Clinical Coder to join our semi-rural Practice based in the town centre of Melton Mowbray.
Main Duties of the Job
The successful candidate should be self-motivated, highly organized, and methodical. As a member of the Practice's Coding Team, the post-holder will screen all incoming medical letters and electronically file and summarize patients' medical notes, highlighting clinician action where relevant.
Job Responsibilities
It is the responsibility of each Clinical Coder to screen all incoming medical letters, entering key data and selecting and directing appropriate information for GP's attention adhering to the practice policy. The role will involve electronically filing and summarizing patients' medical notes. The roles and responsibilities, along with the potential for remote working, may change according to the business requirements.
Clinical
1. Reviewing all incoming correspondence, sorting clinical letters, filing documents, and entering pertinent information into the patients' electronic medical record in accordance with the Practice Protocol.
2. Ensuring all QOF related data is captured.
3. Highlighting clinician action and workflow to appropriate clinician or team as per Practice Protocol.
4. Correcting errors in filing and ensuring corresponding records are amended accurately.
5. Ensuring medical records are kept organized and up to date.
6. Summarizing new patient records to a high standard and according to set protocols and timescales agreed by the Practice.
7. Recognizing own knowledge limits and seeking advice from clinical or administrative colleagues as appropriate.
8. Carrying out administrative related tasks as delegated by the Clinical Lead and Operations Manager.

Qualifications
Essential
* Good standard of education with 5 GCSEs or equivalent or experience in a similar post.
Skills

* Able to establish, maintain, and develop effective communications across the Practice and with external organizations.

* Excellent oral and written communication skills; able to engage effectively with a wide range of audiences.
* Ability to analyze and interpret information.

Experience
Essential
* Experience of working with GP clinical information and systems such as EMIS, SystmOne, or hospital coding environment.
* Recent and relevant experience of primary care.
* Evidence of capacity to work in an office autonomously and as part of a team.
Knowledge
Essential
* Possess a broad knowledge of anatomy and physiology, and medical terminology.
* Good knowledge of IT programs such as Microsoft Office, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and databases.
Desirable
* A good knowledge of working with GP clinical systems such as EMIS/SystmOne, Docman.
* Understanding of the NHS/Primary Care Services.
* Knowledge of confidentiality in the workplace/information governance.
