Description
Keoghs are currently recruiting for Post Litigation Junior Litigator to join their team. The department deals with pursuing subrogated recoveries on behalf of a number of insurer clients and this is a new role in our post-litigation team. The purpose of the role is to effectively manage a portfolio of Delegated (DA) litigated cases where no defence has been received to ensure that damages and costs are recovered and, in appropriate cases, judgment is requested in a timely manner and if necessary referred to enforcement. In addition, there will be a small allocation of liability admitted vehicle damage only claims, to allow for training in respect of handling defended claims and a progression route therein.
Key Accountabilities
1. Organising, prioritising and handling own workload in line with standard operating procedures to ensure that critical dates are met and KPI's and SLA's are achieved.
2. Effective management of the litigation process to ensure KPI's and SLA's are achieved:
1. Adhering to all Court deadlines
2. Drafting of court documents
3. Applying for judgment where applicable
4. Negotiation of quantum and settlement on appropriate cases
5. Ensuring prompt payment of damages and costs by the Defendant
6. Instructing enforcement
3. Effective use of the case management system to ensure:
1. Reserving and all other key information is accurate and updated in a timely manner
2. Critical dates are met
3. All actions/strategies are documented by way of a file note
4. All documents in the history are clearly labelled
5. All relevant client MI populated to ensure case position correct in data exchanged
4. Delivering quality work, as a minimum meeting audit benchmark standards.
5. Driving own personal development.
6. Contributes to team effort by working collaboratively to ensure that team targets are achieved and by positively contributing to team morale.
Experience, Skills and Qualifications
1. Experience of working in a legal environment or from a legal academic background.
2. Preferable experience of quantum negotiations or knowledge of tort law.
3. Demonstrate experience of and the ability to:
1. Work to set deadlines
2. Deal with calls and enquiries from customers, suppliers and/or the public
3. Organise and prioritise their workload using a cases management system
4. Work as part of a team
4. IT literate: proficient in use of Microsoft Office packages (Excel and Word).
5. Excellent listening and verbal communication skills.
6. Ability to remain calm under pressure.
7. Ability to take constructive feedback and set personal goals for continuous improvement.
