Deputy Head of Nursing for ED and Acute Medicine

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated individual to join the Division of Medicine and Emergency Care at Mid Cheshire Hospital. There will be two posts available.
The portfolio of the first deputy post will consist of Emergency Care, Victoria Infirmary Northwich, Same Day Emergency Care, Acute Medical Unit, Frailty Emergency Assessment Unit and Planned Intervention Unit.
The portfolio of the second deputy post will cover the core wards within the division which includes the specialities, cardiology, gastroenterology, respiratory, care of the Elderly, stroke and diabetes and Endocrinology. This will include providing senior leadership to the specialist nursing teams.
The role will support the Head of Nursing and divisional teams in delivering the clinical service strategy across the division. The successful candidate will be instrumental in transformational change within their areas. They will be responsible for the line management of the matron team and support with the quality agenda ensuring standards are maintained throughout the clinical areas.
A digital Clinical System is due to be introduced along with a complete hospital newbuild. This role will be instrumental in supporting these projects. The Senior Nursing Leadership will support the teams to ensure Quality Improvements are at the forefront to deliver Quality care and enhance patient experience.
Main duties of the job
These include assisting the implementation and delivery of the clinical service strategy across the division including the nursing strategy.
Ensuring the nursing agenda is delivered by providing senior nursing leadership and deputising for the Head of Nursing
Provide line management to the Matrons and Senior Nurses.
Ensuring Quality is at the expected standard.
Ensuring resource is used effectively and relevant systems and processes are in place.

Job responsibilities
Support the Head of Nursing with the implementation of the annual Nursing and Midwifery strategy in the division
Being an effective leader of change embedding a culture of continuous quality improvement.
Support the Head of Nursing with overseeing the financial position of ward expenditure and the use of bank/agency staffing against vacancies, sickness and other leave.
Ensure each matron has an effective workforce plan to support service delivery and Quality Standards.
Person Specification
Qualifications
* o First Level registration with the NMC
* o Able to demonstrate the acquisition of additional specialist leadership / management/clinical knowledge through training and experience acquired over time. This specialist knowledge must include a range of functions to include clinical governance, patient and public involvement including complaint resolution, financial, project management, HR and operational management as well as the leadership of a range of clinical services
Skills
* Able to make judgments about highly complex and sometimes conflicting facts or situations
Physical Requirements
* Ability to perform a wide range of duties according to the Job Description
