Job Description
Join the Fusion and Modular Nuclear Business Unit! The Mechanical Engineer will support the design of advanced thermal and fluid systems for the Fusion and Modular business unit. The role will provide analysis and calculation support across all Cooling Water Island Systems and will contribute to an internal centre of excellence for analysis and calculation methodology. This innovative project aims to deliver commercially viable solutions.
Key Responsibilities Include:
1. Analyzing and calculating support for Cooling Water Island Systems
2. Contributing to a center of excellence for analysis methodologies
3. Generating static and transient flow and thermal analyses using various software tools
Additional tasks include:
1. System design and integration
2. Producing, reviewing, and updating system documentation
3. Performing analysis to define system control philosophy
4. Sizing of components
5. Conducting thermal-hydraulic calculations and modeling
6. Formulating equipment specifications

Qualifications
1. Minimum 2:1 BEng in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
2. Relevant senior engineering experience in sectors like offshore, renewables, nuclear, or other highly regulated industries.
3. Solid background in mechanical and structural engineering.
4. Proficient with CAD software: Skilled in Autodesk Inventor, AutoCAD, and/or Catia.
5. Strong mathematical skills: Experienced with MathCAD software.
6. Skilled in producing technical reports: Expertise in creating design and substantiation reports, assembly procedures, etc.
7. Knowledge of manufacturing processes: Understanding of welding, machining, etc.
8. Experienced with the engineering design cycle from Concept to Manufacture.
Additional Information:
1. Familiar with European and Offshore standards: Experience with Eurocode 3 and DNV.
2. Master’s degree is a plus.
3. Skilled in checking and approving engineering CAD assemblies and drawings.
4. Proficient in verifying engineering documentation: Manual calculations, reports, etc.
5. Excellent Finite Element Analysis skills: In-depth knowledge of ANSYS Workbench is desirable.
6. Experienced in non-linear and fatigue FEA: Familiar with DNV and Eurocodes.
