The Role
This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated Paediatric Nurse to join the team at University Hospital Wishaw. This post will require an enthusiastic, forward-thinking individual with excellent communication and time management skills to ensure the provision of an effective, safe, and person-centred approach to delivering paediatric care to the children, young people, and families of Lanarkshire.
The post holder will be a key contributor to the service improvements and service planning for future service provision.
The post holder carries continuing responsibility for the assessment of care needs, the development, implementation, and evaluation of care, and the setting of standards of care. The post holder will provide nursing care in a paediatric setting in accordance with the philosophy and policies outlined by the NMC and to effectively manage the service within his/her control. The post holder will be expected to participate and lead where appropriate, research and audit initiatives that will ensure best practice and the delivery of a responsive effective service.
The Senior Charge Nurse (SCN) within Paediatrics is a key figure/leadership position involving both clinical and managerial responsibilities, ensuring high-quality care for children while overseeing the Paediatric nursing team.
What we'll need you to bring
* Registered Children Nurse with valid NMC Registration
* Educated to/working towards/operating at Degree Level.
* Post-graduate expertise within specialty/area of practice that demonstrates the required breadth of knowledge required to lead safely, effectively, and efficiently.
* Comprehensive knowledge of clinical guidelines and standards within the specialty/area of practice.
* Specialist knowledge and experience of relevant conditions, pathology, policies, and procedures associated with the specialty/area of practice ensuring that the level of expertise can be utilized to deliver leadership within specialty/area of practice.
* Management qualification or equivalent gained through experience and continuous professional development.
* Further education/evidence of Continuous Professional Development in area of specialty including study days/courses/post-graduate qualification.
* The post holder will possess excellent team-working/leadership skills and have the ability to motivate others and work using own initiative.
* Excellent listening, communication, and interpersonal skills.
* Effective time management skills.
* Working knowledge of basic information technology.
Contract type
Fixed Term or Secondment for 12 Months; Full time; 37 hours
Location and Working Pattern
This role will be based in Specialist Children's Health Services Unit within University Hospital Wishaw. The working pattern for this role to be confirmed by the hiring manager.
