We have two exciting opportunities for highly motivated and adaptable individuals in career graded Resilience and Emergency Planning Officer posts. Successful candidates will help Durham County Council fulfil its civil contingencies and business resilience functions. WHAT IS INVOLVED? You will be part of a small team and play a key role in emergency and business continuity management, including planning for, protecting and maintaining public safety. You will also become an integral part of the Council’s emergency response call out arrangements. You will undertake a range of duties and responsibilities commensurate with qualifications and experience in relation to Community Protection services. It will involve working in close partnership with a broad range of council services, with multi-agency partners within the Local Resilience Forum (LRF) and working with communities, businesses, schools and other organisations to develop and implement community and business resilience. The posts are available as a career graded opportunity and as such any appointment will reflect the level of skills, knowledge and experience the successful candidate demonstrates throughout the recruitment process (based on the minimum educational and experiential standards outlined). The Community Protection Service has introduced a bespoke Competency Framework to assist with staff development and is designed to facilitate internal staff development. Grade 10 requirements: Educated to degree level or equivalent in a related subject and significant post qualification experience in the resilience / business continuity /emergency planning sector Continued evidence of CPD in emergency planning or business continuity Technical Skills and Competency in the 3 or more fields of the Resilience and Emergency Planning Technical Expertise Standards Grade 9 requirements: Educated to degree level or equivalent in a closely related subject Evidence of CPD in emergency planning or business continuity and substantial post qualification experience in the resilience / business continuity/ emergency planning sector Technical Skills and Competency in 2 of the Resilience and Emergency Planning Technical Expertise Standards Grade 8 requirements: Educated to degree level or equivalent in a closely related subject to resilience / business continuity/ emergency planning OR Emergency planning or business continuity qualification AND Relevant experience in the field of emergency management or business continuity, or other closely related discipline The successful applicant for this post will be required to apply for the necessary security clearances to perform the role.
